The Swiss Association of Civil Aviation Controllers Skycontrol is a trade union within the meaning of Articles 60 et seq. Of the Swiss Civil Code. Its headquarters are in Geneva.
Skycontrol represents a large portion of the air traffic controllers at the Geneva Control Center, the Berne Control Tower, the Lugano Control Tower, the Grenchen Control Tower, the Sion Control Tower and the CCA of the Emmen control tower. The number of active members currently has 196 members (beginning of 2017).
The objectives of the association are to safeguard and improve the professional, economic and social conditions of the air traffic controllers within Skyguide, the authorities responsible for aviation safety and other organizations and companies involved in activities of civil aviation and the public.
On a national scale, Skycontrol is one of the social partners of Skyguide. The other partners are Aerocontrol in Zurich, Geneva APTC (turn and approach Geneva) and PVB / APC. Syndicom and SSP are responsible for defending the interests of the categories of personnel other than the air traffic controllers in the company. Close co-ordination takes place between the different associations in all matters concerning Skyguide’s economic activities.
At the international level, Skycontrol is also engaged in two areas:
On the side of the union and as a founding member, it actively participates in ATCEUC (Coordination of the European Union of Air Traffic Controllers), coordinates the platform for all the dossiers concerning the policy of the European community in the field ATC.
And on the professional side, Skycontrol is a member of IFATCA (International Federation of the Association of Air Traffic Controllers). She sits on two standing committees of the Federation, TOC (technical and operational) and LPC (Legal and Social Committee) for five years. The representation of Skycontrol with IFATCA is organized jointly with Aerocontrol and APTC, which is done with the Swiss Federation of Air Traffic Controllers – SWISS ATCA. This organization allows members of these organizations to share the IFATCA standing committee seats with Skycontrol.
